Helping you understand how applause works

What industries does Applause serve?

We work exclusively with service companies. Particularly those that provide an on-site service to customers. Examples include home services (e.g. pest control, lawn care, cleaning, pool, etc.) and hospitality (e.g. hotels, resorts, spas, etc.).

Can all my employees use Applause?

Absolutely. Our recognition & bonus tools can be used by all employees, in any role. Most of our customers use our online review, NPS, and tipping features for employees that are in customer facing roles.

How is Applause different from other online review tools?

Like other review management tools, we help solicit, respond to, and manage online reviews. Then, we layer in incentives, leaderboards and recognition for your employees so that they are more motivated to get reviews. For example, you can assign a small incentive for each 5-star review, and your employees are automatically awarded the bonus as soon as one of their customers posts the review online. Review matching, incentive payout, and leaderboard updates are all done automatically in our software.

How is Applause different from other NPS & customer feedback tools?

We use text-based NPS surveys that are programmatically sent at optimal times to generate the highest response rates possible. Many of our customers get 30%+ NPS response rates, which is 2-3x better than their current system.

Then, we layer in incentives, leaderboards and recognition to motivate your employees to provide exceptional service – which leads to higher Net Promoter Scores. For example, you can assign a small incentive for each NPS score of 10, and your employees are automatically awarded the bonus as soon as one of their customers completes their NPS survey. Matching scores to employees, paying the incentive, and updating leaderboards all happens automatically in our software.

How is Applause different from other employee recognition programs?


Most recognition software is built for employees that work at a desk all day. Ours is built from a mobile-first perspective so employees in the field can use it throughout their day.
Also, most recognition tools are based around gift cards and other non-cash awards. We’ve found that service employees are far more motivated by extra money than by gift cards. So we focus on monetary incentives, spot bonuses, and the like; making it easy for managers to award an employee that went above and beyond, worked an extra shift, outperformed their goals, etc.

How does customer tipping work?


Customers are first sent an NPS survey. If they indicate they are happy with the service they received, they’ll subsequently see an option to leave a tip for the employee that served them. The NPS & tip experience is sent after the employee is gone, defaults to an option of $0, and clearly states that tips are never expected.

For customers that want to recognize great service with a tip, they can easily complete the transaction through Applause, without having to download an app. Tip funds are sent to your employees in real-time, and they can track earnings through our mobile app.

Do I have to use the customer tipping feature?


No, all our products & features are optional. Tipping works great for some companies, and isn’t the right fit for others. We’ll help you decide which features and experiences are right for your customer base, and walk you through the positive impact they have on your employees.

How long does it take to set up Applause for my business?


It’s surprisingly quick. Some of our customers are going live within a few days of signing up. Others take a couple of weeks. We know that business owners and managers are busy, so we’ve designed an onboarding process that has automation, system integration, and enables our CS team to do any remaining manual work – so you don’t have to.

How much does Applause cost?
